Flip/Hotshot Class (6 - 12 years old)
Developmental Milestone
Grade school children are great learners. They love to be challenged and to experience success. In fact, if they’re not challenged, they’ re not afraid to tell you so. Having been in school for several years, these children have a pre-established sense of self-confidence, self-esteem and self-image – whether positive or negative. They have compared themselves to their peers enough to know that they are good at something and not at others. Due to ranges in age, genetics, fitness, and eating habits, these children come in all shapes and sizes, and because much of their day is spent sitting at desks, their need for physical activity increases. In this age ranges, children’s body composition can have significant impact on their physical abilities and limitations and therefore, on their sense of self.
The Little Gym Curriculum
- The grade school program is a “full-blown” Gymnastic class, incorporating specific skills and/or conditioning.
- The approach to instruction focuses on effort and success to nurture self-confidence and to reduce the fear of failure in front of their peers. In this environment, where child are able to experience success and are not afraid to make mistake, self-confidence, self-image and self-esteem are positively affected.
- More challenging gymnastics skills are introduces, reviewed and mastered to build body strength, ability, coordination and confidence.
